HARD COATINGS PVD
HARD COATINGS - WHY?
Wear shorts the life time of machine parts and tools. In this respect, coatings consisting of thin layers of mechanically and chemically resistant (so called "hard coatings") have proved very successful in the past years. The first on this field is titanium nitride - TiN.
THE ADVANTAGES OFFERED BY TiN COATINGS
- high hardness - up to 3000 HV,
- low frictiuon coeffition and good sliding behaviour,
- high temprerature conductivity,
- abrasion, corrosion and chemical resistance,
- improved product finish,
- reduced down time,
- increased tool life,
- prevents galling and welding,
- improved mould release,
- better edge retention,
- maintenance of parts tolerance (coating thickness - 0,5รท5,0 ?m).
Last but not least the attractive appearence of golden coatinbgs is an additional advantage, so TiN can be used as decorative - protective layer.
COST SAVING
The characteristics of TiN coatings results in longer, faster productio runs, less dow time and dramatic improvement in productivity - so savings in manufacturing cost.
