TECHNOLOGICAL CONDITIONS
REQUIREMENTS FOR THE PARTS TO BE HARD COATED
Tools and parts are deemed coatable if they substantially fulfill the following prerequisites:
COATABLE MATERIALS
- metal such as HSS, hot and cold working steel, stainless steel, cermets and tungsten carbides can be coated
- the parts must be able to withstand the temperature up to 500°C reached during the coating process (lower temperature is possible)
- brazed parts can be coated if the brazuing material is vacuu and temperature resistance (Cd and Zn is no acceptable)
SURFACE CHARACTERISTICS
- the surface of the parts must be bright
- there must be no burns on cutting edges
- ground surfaces must be free of griding and hardering residues
- the roughness of working surfaces should be as low possible (Ra<0,4 ?m)
- the parts must be free of machining chips
- the parts must be free of other coatings (Ni or Cr)
- nitrided parts can be coated
- residues from packaing materials are to be avoided
- inner surfaces with a width to depth ratio 1:1 can be coated
FIXATION
- a fixation possibility (bore, thread, shaft) must be provided
DATA TO BE INCLUDED
- designation, type of tool
- type of material
- dimensions (scale drawing, drawing, sketch) together with indentification of surfaces to be oated )one colour) and any surfaces that must not be coated (other colour)
- tempering temperature
- hardness (indicate points measured)
- hardering method:salts bath, inert gas, vacuum
- nitriding method: gas, bath, plasma
PACKING
- the parts should be lightly oiled to protect them form rusting
- inner packaging must be shock absorbed
- outher packaging must be multi-use
